Cohen on the Telephone
Jewish Book cover from the recording by the same name. Cohen never gets off the new fangled two piece device called the telephone as he conducts business. "Cohen on the Telephone", also known as "Cohen at the Telephone" is a comedy monologue released in 1913 on record and then published in print in 1927. The monologue is Mr. Cohen's attempt to contact his landlord using a telephone of the period. The humor is derived from Cohen's difficulty in being understood on the then primitive telephone with his thick Yiddish accent.
