Alphonse Maria Mucha (1860 - 1939) was a Czech Art Nouveau painter. However, he did a great many posters and prints. The period of his work has become known as the Belle Époque. The 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris distributed the "Mucha style" worldwide, of which Mucha said "I think [the Exposition Universelle made some contribution toward bringing aesthetic values into arts and crafts." He ornamented the Bosnia and Herzegovina Pavilion and collaborated in the Austrian Pavilion.
