L' Aureole du Midi
Known as the father of the modern poster, Jules Chéret (1836 – 1932) was a French painter and lithographer. He worked on everything from theater to advertising. Perhaps to show this lamp can be handled even by a child, Cheret allows a little towheaded tike to run around with it, while another one carries a canister of kerosene, cheerfully disregarding basic safety precautions. But we forgive him because the kids are so darn cute, especially the one in the red polka-dot dress.
